Happy Holidays Pemberton!

We really appreciate every single person that comes in and makes our world go 'round. A sincere, heart felt THANK YOU to all our friends, colleagues and customers for your patronage and support for the past 3 years.

This Holiday Season we are doing something new and different:

It all started on International Human Rights Day - December 10th.
A couple members of our wonderful staff decided to start a movement to give back with the help of our community. They convinced the rest of the gang to donate all the tips made on this day to donate to individual loans distributed through Kiva.org.

This video explains:

Kiva from Luke Harris on Vimeo.

Well thanks to YOU, they raised $145!
Mount Currie Coffee Co. then matched the funds collected to make the grand total $290. Enough to start 12 micro loans!

This is the beginning of a beautiful relationship! Follow our first loans here:

Because we want to recognize the value added to "the bean" at every level of production, the loans that we make will be tailored to our friends in the coffee business, whether it's farming, trading, or serving coffee(...or sometimes just living in a coffee producing region). We're all in this game together!

Hooray!

Once again folks, Thank you for making this happen and Happy Holidays from your friends at Mount Currie Coffee Co.

Featured Artist: Shannon Ellis of Ellis Designs

Come by and check out some of the beautiful bags designed and produced by Pemberton's own Shannon Ellis of Ellis Designs. They make amazing gifts and add a touch of class to any ensemble! The best thing about the bags is the attention to detail. There are pockets in all the right places and the fabric choices are always amazing! Shannon is addicted to fabrics and has a stockpile of gorgeous modern and vintage textiles on hand.

Ellis Designs
Ellis Designs handbags are a fusion of clean lines, beautiful fabrics and functional style.

Individually handcrafted, each bag is built for durability and meant to be used and incorporated into your work, lunch with friends or carrying around diapers. Ellis handbags are a great way to have some fun and express your style.

Ellis Designs was formed when Shannon Ellis found the perfect way to combine and satisfy an addiction for beautiful fabrics with a propensity to own too many bags. Selling her bags at select markets and shows across Canada has added the pleasure of meeting many great people from all over the globe.

Shannon creates, lives & works in Pemberton, British Columbia. You may find her getting a coffee from time to time or plugging away at the Library next door!

Note from Shannon:
"I would like  to thank my family and friends for the support and encouragement along the way. You've all listened to countless hours of 'bag talk' - Thank you, Thank you! Also a big thanks to all the new friends I've met and sold bags to, for passing the word around. I truly appreciate it."

Celebrate International Human Rights Day with Us Next Friday.

In celebration of International Human Rights Day next friday (Dec. 10th) we (the staff of Mount Currie Coffee Co.) will be donating the entirety of our tips to a Kiva loan account! Then, Mount Currie Coffee will match every dollar earned for the cause! Kiva is a micro-finance institution that makes it simple and easy to give out direct, no-interest loans to aspiring entrepreneurs in developing countries. Check it out! www.kiva.org

Here's how it will work: The money is loaned out, then utilized and then payed back in a timely manor...pretty simple. But what makes this so awesome is that once they're paid back, the funds can be loaned out as many times as you like! Thus one loan, is actually several loans. We're really excited to take part in some international development, but I encourage you to do so as well! Kiva loans make great holiday gifts!
